Aaron Rodgers changes his contract for the New York Jets – monster salary for 2024.

To keep the New York Jets under the salary cap, Aaron Rodgers is restructuring his contract – and will likely play for a mini-salary next season. In 2024, however, the quarterback will really cash in.

Aaron Rodgers is doing everything he can to be as successful as possible with his new team in the coming season.

To that end, the new New York Jets quarterback has now restructured his monster contract so that the Jets can stay under the salary cap without much trouble in 2023 and still have room for new signings.

As “ESPN” reports, Rodgers and the Packers – shortly before the trade to the Jets was finalized – converted what was supposed to be a $58.3 million option bonus for 2023 into a base salary for 2024.

Rodgers officially playing for $1.165 million

Consequently, the 39-year-old superstar will officially earn $1.165 million next season – a joke salary for a player of his caliber.

If Rodgers had insisted on the terms in his original contract, he would have been priced at $15.8 million in the Jets’ salary structure. That would have put the New York Islanders several million over the cap.

But since Rodgers ultimately won’t give up a dime of his $150 million salary, the fat end for the Jets then comes in 2024, when the California native’s salary increases to 107.55 million.

But there’s still a lot of water flowing down the Hudson River between now and then. Whether Rodgers will even be active for the Jets by then, not even he knows.

“I’m just focusing on this season for now,” Rodgers stressed during his introduction Wednesday.
