NFL: New contract for Amon-Ra St. Brown – Detroit Lions start talks

The offseason is also about Amon-Ra St. Brown’s future. Contract talks are reportedly starting with the Detroit Lions

For Amon-Ra St. Brown, the big payday is probably getting closer and closer.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Lions will meet with St. Brown’s representatives during the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis to discuss a new contract.

St. Brown enters the fourth year of his rookie contract in 2024, so an early extension is possible. Shortly after the Super Bowl, there were already rumors that he would become one of the highest-paid receivers in the league.

It is said that a multi-year deal would earn St. Brown around 25 million dollars a year. The highest-paid receiver is Miami Dolphins top star Tyreek Hill, who earns 30 million dollars a year.

St. Brown would then be in the same salary bracket as A.J. Brown (Philadelphia Eagles/25 million dollars), Stefon Diggs (Buffalo Bills/24 million) and DK Metcalf (Seattle Seahawks/24 million).

St. Brown can look back on an outstanding 2023 season. He totaled 1,515 yards and ten touchdowns on 119 receptions in the regular season. In the playoffs, he added another 274 yards and a touchdown in three games.

He made the All-Pro team and was nominated for the Pro Bowl, his second Pro Bowl appearance since 2022. In total, the 24-year-old has 3,588 yards and 21 touchdowns after three years in the NFL.

His role was crucial to the Lions’ remarkable run, which saw them return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season and also celebrate their first playoff win in 32 years. The Lions only fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the championship game.
