Buffalo Bills have Stefon Diggs’ back after slump in performance

Despite Stefon Diggs’ performance slump in the second half of the season, the Buffalo Bills have the wide receiver’s back.

Since Stefon Diggs fell into a performance slump towards the end of the Buffalo Bills’ season, the wide receiver came under criticism.

The 30-year-old has now received public backing from the Bills following the playoff exit in the Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs (24:27).

“Stef is a No. 1 receiver, I firmly believe that and I’m not going to change that,” Buffalo general manager Brandon Beans said on Tuesday, “I’m sure he’d love to have a deep ball like that again, he’d be the first to say that.”

Beans is alluding to a situation in the fourth quarter against the Chiefs. After a pass from quarterback Josh Allen, the ball slipped through Diggs’ hands with 8:23 minutes left in the game. This situation tragically documented Diggs’ drop in performance in recent weeks.

Diggs had his last game with 100 or more receiving yards in week six.

Head coach Sean McDermott was also baffled by Diggs’ slump in performance. “I can’t say exactly why,” Sean McDermott said on Tuesday, “if I could, we’d fix it, right?”

Most recently, Diggs went seven straight games without a touchdown for the first time in his NFL career.

Although Diggs was no longer present at the season finale, which was open to the media, he had previously expressed his desire to stay with the Bills.

In April 2022, he signed a new contract in Buffalo that would tie him to the franchise until 2027 and bring in a total of over 140 million US dollars.
