The NFL has rescheduled a Monday Night Football game for the first time. Instead of the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles will now play the Seattle Seahawks
The New England Patriots are deep in a form crisis. Of course, the NFL sees this too – and reacts. Since this season, it has been possible to swap the “Monday Night Football” game on the night from Monday to Tuesday.
The Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles will now play the “MNF” duel on matchday 15 in primetime, i.e. at prime time in the us market.
The originally scheduled game, with the Chiefs hosting the Patriots, will now take place on the Sunday of matchday 15 at 7pm.
The Patriots’ poor form as the reason?
It’s obvious that the Patriots’ lack of form is likely to play a role. The NFL wants to get as many viewers as possible in front of the TV with the primetime games.
An unbalanced duel on paper between the Chiefs as Super Bowl contenders and the Patriots as one of the weakest teams in the league is unlikely to develop the greatest appeal at the moment.
