The New England Patriots have entered into a partnership with the DFB. The announcement was made by the six-time NFL Super Bowl champions and the 2014 world champions. Both will host the other once as early as the end of the year.
The New England Patriots and the DFB declared on Wednesday that they will enter into a partnership in the future.
Both will benefit from it for the first time in the autumn. First, the DFB will travel to New England for a test match against the USA (14 October) and use the Patriots’ training facilities there.
Later, the Patriots will travel to Germany to play the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt (12 November). The DFB will then make its campus available.
DFB and Patriots: “The timing is perfect “
“With our experts from the DFB Academy, we have already had exchanges with NFL clubs in recent years to learn from each other,” Dr. Holger Blask was quoted as saying in the DFB’s statement. “Now we are very proud to work with one of the most successful NFL teams ever,” the managing director of DFB GmbH & Co. KG continued.
The New England Patriots had “helped shape the sport over the past two decades and made a decisive contribution to the popularity of American football, also beyond the USA”.
“The timing is perfect, the NFL is playing two regular league games in Germany for the first time this year – in Frankfurt, the home of the DFB,” Blask continued: “In 2026, eleven NFL stadiums will then be venues for the World Cup, which the USA is co-hosting with Canada and Mexico.”
Joe Durant, Senior Director Sales Operations of Kraft Sports & Entertainment, was also pleased: “We know how popular the Patriots are in Germany and can’t wait to travel to Frankfurt this autumn. “
