This time Tom Brady seems to be serious: The superstar is said to have filed the papers for his retirement with the NFL. Perfection is what the former dominator is now striving for off the football field.
Can Tom Brady really let it go? Or will another retirement from retirement follow after all?
After the back-and-forth last year surrounding his announced – and shortly afterwards retracted – retirement, such questions from critics and fans seemed entirely appropriate. But the former football dominator’s decision seems final this time: according to “ESPN”, Brady has filed the official paperwork for his NFL retirement with the league, which, among other things, starts the process for pension payments.
It would be a well-deserved retirement. For 23 seasons, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. finally honed his game and broke nearly every major record.
As a result, there are seven Super Bowl victories, numerous individual awards and pretty much undisputed status as the GOAT – the greatest of all time. The 45-year-old permanently strived for perfection in his sport, now he logically wants to achieve it off the field as well.f
Brady: “Loved my time in football “
“I loved my time in football. It’s hard to make decisions like that, but it’s certainly the right time,” Brady explained most recently on the radio show “The Herd With Colin Cowherd,” adding, “Life is also about exciting things ahead.”
For example, there’s the film “80 for Brady.” A comedy produced by its namesake, which shows four older women on their journey together to Super Bowl 51, where they are desperate to see Brady and the New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons.
The flick entered the US cinema charts at number two – where there’s Brady’s name, success is not far behind.
First break, then expert job
Or his job as a TV pundit for “Fox Sports”, for which Brady signed a ten-year contract worth 375 million dollars last year, according to media reports.
However, he will not take up the job until 2024, before which the divorced family man wants to take a break – and use the time to start the job perfectly prepared.
He wants to be great at what he does, Brady stressed. “I’m taking time to really learn, to get good at what I want to do” – perfection as it once was on the football field. But that’s probably definitely the end of it now.
