After horror injury: fans donate over 5 million US dollars to Hamlin project

The support for injured Bills player Damar Hamlin seems to know no bounds. NFL fans are donating money to the footballer’s project to provide toys for children. Current total: over 5 million US dollars.

The horror injury to Damar Hamlin shocked the football world.

The Buffalo Bills safety went down and collapsed after a collision with wide receiver Tee Higgins in the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. His heart stopped and the 24-year-old had to be resuscitated and taken to hospital.

His condition there is reported to be critical.

While people are showing their support for Hamlin on social media and outside the hospital, a lot of money is also coming in for one of the player’s projects.

Hamlin project: over 167,000 people donate a total of over 5 million US dollars

Hamlin created a project in 2020 on the site “GoFundMe” to generate money to be used to buy toys. These were to go to children in need. The set donation goal: 2,500 dollars.

Many fans are currently donating to this project and want to show their support for Hamlin.

In the meantime, the donation target has been pulverised and more than 5 million US dollars have already been collected. The trend is still rising strongly.

Hamlin’s fundraising project has in its description, “I never want to forget where I came from on my way to the NFL and I want to use my reach to help the community that raised me.”
