Minnesota Vikings rookie Lewis Cine has undergone successful surgery after suffering a serious injury against the New Orleans Saints in the NFL International Game in London. His franchise is hopeful about the future and announced the next steps for the safety. However, the season is over for the 22-year-old.

Munich – Rookie safety Lewis Cine of the Minnesota Vikings has undergone successful surgery following his serious injury sustained in the game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Vikings made the announcement via their website.

“We look forward to welcoming Lewis back to Minnesota soon among his teammates and coaches,” the Vikings said in an official statement.

The Minneapolis-based franchise also has a plan in place for Cine’s recovery. “Soon he will begin his rehab process in close consultation with our medical staff,” the Vikings outline the rookie safety’s next steps on his road back to the football field.

Cine badly twisted his left foot on a punt defense in his franchise’s 28-25 win over the Saints in the NFL Internationals in London and was treated on the field for minutes before being carted off the field. His leg was stabilised in a so-called “air cast”.

The 2022 season is thus over prematurely for the rookie safety after just his first four NFL games.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Cine in the first round of last year’s draft at No. 32.
