At just 36 years old, Sean McVay became the youngest coach ever to win a Super Bowl. Nevertheless, the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams is worried about his future and has now left it surprisingly open.
Munich/Los Angeles – After their greatest triumph, are the Los Angeles Rams now losing the architect of success?
After a few hours of celebration and little sleep, head coach Sean McVay was surprisingly vague about his future as coach of the Super Bowl champions.
The 36-year-old was brief when asked about his future in the Los Angeles Times and replied: “We’ll see.
Two Super Bowl appearances in five years
McVay took over as Rams coach in 2017 and led the franchise to the Super Bowl twice. The 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals made the former wide receiver the youngest coach to ever win a Super Bowl.
At the moment, he is simply enjoying the moment, but he is still thinking about the future. Even before the Super Bowl he said in a press conference: “Someday the moment will come when I want to have a family and spend time with them.
Triumph would make departure easier
McVay is engaged to Ukrainian Veronika Khomyn, the couple do not have children.
He was also asked if the Super Bowl ring would now make it easier for him to eventually end his coaching career. “I think you could say that,” the 36-year-old explains plainly.
McVay still has a contract with the Rams until the end of the 2023 season.
