NFL: San Francisco 49ers re-sign Mark Nzeocha after praise

After his performance in the game against the Texans, Mark Nzeocha gets a lot of praise from his coach at the 49ers. Now the German is being called up to the squad again for the important away game at the Rams.

Munich – Things get serious for the San Francisco 49ers this evening. If the franchise wins its difficult away game at the Los Angeles Rams, the team is sure to make the playoffs.

Mark Nzeocha will then be back in the mix. The linebacker was once again called up by the 49ers from the practice squad to the active squad. In the NFL, a player can only do this twice per season without becoming a permanent part of the squad. In the case of the German, this maximum limit has thus been reached.

The roster move by head coach Kyle Shanahan is by no means surprising. The 31-year-old was praised extensively by special teams coach Richard Hightower last week. Hightower credited him with making a huge impact on the special teams performance in the game against the Texans.

49ers coach praises Nzeocha

“It’s great to have him back here. He’s an absolute professional. A familiar face, familiar with our system. He’s still a very quick, very clever and very physical player. He got the back of a lot of players last week, so credit to the guys in the personnel department for keeping an eye on him,” he told a press conference.

And continued, “He was definitely very helpful last week. He had two tackles and an assist and paved the way for a lot of other players.”

He will now get another chance against the Rams.
