NFL – Detroit Lions: Former Coach Stands Behind Cornerback Terrion Arnold and Writes Letter to Judge

Former Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold is facing charges of robbery and kidnapping. Now he is receiving support from his former coach.

Former Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, who was arrested following an alleged robbery and kidnapping, is receiving support from his former college coach, Nick Saban, who coached him at the University of Alabama.

According to Mike Rodak of “247Sports.com,” Saban sent a letter to the presiding judge to vouch for Arnold’s “exceptional” character, which he “have witnessed over the more than six years I have known him.”

“Over the years, I have welcomed Terrion into my home and into my family circle. He has always treated my family and my staff with respect, humility, and kindness. In all the time I have known him, he has never once given me cause to question his conduct, his integrity, or his respect for others. I cannot recall him ever being involved in behavior that could be described as aggressive or irresponsible,” he continued.

Saban coached Arnold from 2021 to 2023, but also admitted that he was “not all that familiar with or informed about” the allegations to be able to form a comprehensive judgment and that he understood the “seriousness of the court proceedings.”

Nevertheless, he said he would “respectfully ask the court to take into account my experiences with Terrion, his character, his background, and the positive influence he had on our program,” he explained.

The incident for which Arnold is facing charges occurred back in February of this year. The 23-year-old turned himself in in mid-June and now faces a total of eight charges that could result in a life sentence.

Arnold was released from pretrial detention on $1 million bail. Arnold, meanwhile, denies any involvement in the incidents.
