NFL: New England Patriots – Requesting a Trade? Wide Receiver Speaks His Mind

Following the signings of A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs, rumors surfaced that Kayshon Boutte had requested a trade from the New England Patriots. Now, the wide receiver is speaking out about his future in Foxborough.

Recently, there were rumors that Kayshon Boutte had requested a trade from the New England Patriots.

Now the wide receiver is speaking out himself and emphasizes that he sees no reason to leave the franchise.

“I want to spend the rest of my career in New England,” the 24-year-old told radio station “WBZ.”

He continued: “I like it here. I’ve been here for three years now. I’m here every day. I call this place home. This is my new home. I grew up in Louisiana and spent 20 years there, but now Boston is my life.“

NFL: Kayshon Boutte wants to stay with the New England Patriots

‘ESPN’ insider Adam Schefter recently stated on his podcast: ”One wide receiver I still suspect could be on the move is Kayshon Boutte.”

He continued: “He didn’t participate in the offseason program. He’s interested in a trade. I expect there could be movement on this front sometime this summer.”

The rumors stemmed from the receiver’s absence from the voluntary offseason programs and organized team activities (OTAs) in recent weeks.

The 24-year-old commented: “There’s just a lot of speculation. I’m just trying to figure everything out. I’m trying not to let trade rumors or anything like that influence me. I’m continuing to work, even if I’m not there right now. That’s what I’m focusing on.”

New England Patriots Bolster Receiver Corps in Offseason

Boutte was selected by the Patriots in the 6th round of the 2023 draft. After seeing little action in his rookie season due to a thigh injury, the wide receiver became a key target in the offense the following season.

In 2024, Boutte recorded a total of 589 receiving yards; last season, he had 551 receiving yards. However, he doubled his number of touchdowns from three to six.

In the playoffs, he was quarterback Drake Maye’s top receiver with 168 yards. The highlight was his spectacular one-handed 30-yard catch in the game against the Houston Texans.

Following the departure of former No. 1 receiver Stefon Diggs, New England brought two new star receivers—A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs—to Massachusetts.

“That was a good addition,” the 24-year-old said of Brown’s signing. “He’s a great guy. When you watch him, you see that he dominates the game. A great X-receiver, absolutely dominant. Whether it’s long passes or short routes—he catches everything.”

With the new arrivals, Boutte will have to compete with Mack Hollins for playing time as the third and fourth wide receivers on the roster. But even that doesn’t seem to be a problem for him: “There’s always competition. Every year,“ he said. ”Nothing is handed to you. Whether you’re watching from the outside or playing on the inside. Ultimately, every day counts. You have to make the most of it.”
