NFL – New England Patriots: Will Mike Vrabel Have to Sit This One Out Again?

Mike Vrabel recently skipped Day 3 of the draft. Will the Patriots coach miss out on more events in the future? He actually left that open.

For the New England Patriots, the focus in recent months has rarely been on sports. Instead, a colorful topic has been front and center: the affair involving head coach Mike Vrabel and NFL reporter Dianna Russini.

Photos showing the two of them together kept surfacing. Vrabel and Russini are both married to other partners.

Adding to the controversy was the fact that Vrabel skipped the third day of the draft for personal and private reasons.

Vrabel with the Patriots: The Best Possible Version

He had previously announced that he intended to seek professional help, a process that began over the draft weekend. He emphasized that he wanted to give his family and the Patriots “the best possible version of himself.”

A decision he does not regret, as he said during a press conference on Wednesday. It was his first media appearance since the draft. He explained that the balance between football and family is “really good.”

He was also asked whether it was possible that he might be absent from the team in the future as well.

Mike Vrabel: You never know what might happen

“Other than saying I’ll be on the field today with full energy, I can’t promise anything,” said Vrabel. “And I mean that because you never know what might happen. Something could come up at any time. That’s why I’m just focusing on today for now.”

When asked how well he’s managed to block out potential distractions, Vrabel replied: “We all have to deal with things that happen outside this building. My focus—and above all, the passion I feel for coaching—are the most important things right now. This is a great opportunity.”
