The Seattle Seahawks have a very unique schedule for the upcoming season: a reflection of the evolving landscape of the NFL.
The NFL is increasingly shifting its games from Sundays to other weekdays, when TV networks and streaming platforms pay more for broadcast rights. In the upcoming season, no team embodies this trend better than the Seattle Seahawks.
The franchise will play on every weekday next season—except Tuesdays. This unique schedule gets off to an extraordinary start right from the first game.
As the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Seahawks will open the new season. And instead of playing on a Thursday night—as was previously customary—the new season kicks off on Wednesday, September 9. Their opponent at Lumen Field in Seattle will be the New England Patriots, making this a Super Bowl rematch.
The rest of the team’s schedule includes ten games on Sundays, one game on Thursday night, two games on Monday night, one game on Saturday in Week 15, and a game on Christmas Day, which falls on a Friday this year.
Seahawks follow Chiefs’ lead
The only game currently unscheduled is the 18th and final game, which will take place either on a Saturday or a Sunday.
By the way: The only other team in NFL history to play on six different days of the week was the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024.
They were also the reigning NFL champions at the time and, just like Seattle now, played on every day except Tuesday.
So far, no franchise has had to play on every day of the week in a single season.
