NFL – Next scandal for the New England Patriots: Investigation against defensive star

The New England Patriots are one of the best teams in the regular season. But now, of all times, there is a lot of unrest surrounding the team.

The New England Patriots are doing very well in terms of sports.

The team has already reached the NFL playoffs and is battling it out with the Denver Broncos in Week 18 for the number 1 seed and thus a bye week at the start of the postseason.

But the team is not having a peaceful time at the moment.

First, wide receiver Stefon Diggs was charged with strangulation and assault.

Then it emerged that defensive tackle Christian Barmore is under investigation for a case of domestic violence. This is according to records from the district court in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

In a statement, the Patriots said they were informed at the time of the incident and promptly notified the NFL. “The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process,” the team said. “We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely as we have done over the past several months, and cooperate fully with the league.”

According to Barmore’s attorney, they are “confident that the evidence will show that there was no criminal conduct. Based on the facts and the legal situation, we expect this private matter to be resolved in the near future and both parties to move forward together.”

The NFL is currently reviewing both the Barmore and Diggs cases in connection with possible violations of the league’s conduct policy. Both players are theoretically eligible to play, but could be placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List “should formal charges be filed in the form of a grand jury indictment, an indictment by a prosecutor, or a formal indictment in a criminal court.”

Patriots coach Vrabel is optimistic

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel reiterated that the allegations are things “we have to deal with. Every day there are distractions—some smaller, some bigger. I am confident that we will focus on Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. And that these two guys will be able to deal with the ongoing legal process.”

According to Vrabel, possible internal disciplinary measures are not currently an issue, but will only be considered once the legal situation has been clarified. “I don’t think we need to jump to any conclusions right now. We’ll let the process run its course,” he said. Vrabel did not rule out the possibility of Diggs or Barmore playing in Sunday’s game against the Dolphins (live ticker starting at 10:25 p.m.).
