Aaron Rodgers faces his former team with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the first day of the NFL season. Jets receiver Garrett Wilson makes an interesting statement in this regard.
Aaron Rodgers has a very special game on the schedule for Sunday. Not only will he be on the field for the first time in an NFL game as starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he will also be playing directly against his former team, the New York Jets.
At a press conference before the game, the playmaker was asked if he was still in contact with players or coaches from the Big Apple franchise. A-Rod declined to answer.
Garrett Wilson, wide receiver for the Jets, was much less secretive. The receiver once had great chemistry with Rodgers, as was evident in the documentary series “Hard Knocks,” which profiled the Jets in 2023.
Wilson and Rodgers not in contact
However, the connection between the two was apparently not lasting. “I haven’t spoken to Aaron since he left,” Wilson now stated to US reporters: “I wish him all the best for this season. But yes, we haven’t been in contact since he left.”
Last season, the receiver had his best season under quarterback Rodgers with 101 catches for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns. After the end of the season and a period that can be seen as a misunderstanding, the Jets finally parted ways with the superstar quarterback.
