Special honor: The MVP and Players of the Year will take to the field next season with a gold emblem on their jerseys.
NFL players always wear the league logo on the collar of their jerseys.
However, a few select players will also wear additional emblems in the 2025 season.
As reported by ESPN, the league’s MVP and Players of the Year will wear a gold patch with the logo for the first time in the new season, which begins in a few days. The honorary patch is inspired by the NFL Honors logo.
The winners of the 2024 NFL Honors are Bills quarterback Josh Allen (MVP), Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (Offensive Player of the Year), Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II (Defensive Player of the Year), Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (Offensive Rookie of the Year), and Rams linebacker Jared Verse (Defensive Rookie of the Year).
The gold shields will be displayed on the jerseys of the five players throughout the season, starting with the Eagles’ season opener against the Cowboys on Thursday.
The NFL also honors captains with a “C” emblem on their jerseys. In addition, winners of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award wear a special patch on their jerseys for the rest of their careers.
This is awesome: Last year’s NFL award winners will be honored with gold shields on their jerseys this season.
