Because of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift: US Vice President issues bizarre warning to the NFL and Kansas City Chiefs

US Vice President JD Vance has taken Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s engagement as an opportunity to issue a warning to the NFL.

While US President Donald Trump reacted surprisingly warmly to the news of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s engagement and wished the couple “much love,” his vice president, JD Vance, couldn’t resist making a bizarre comment.

“As a football fan—as a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals—I hope the NFL doesn’t give the Kansas City Chiefs preferential treatment just because Travis Kelce is now marrying perhaps the most famous woman in the world,” Vance told USA Today.

The vice president is thus reigniting a discussion that has frequently led to heated debates among NFL fans in recent years.

Chiefs benefited from controversial call against the Bengals

Last season, the referees were repeatedly criticized because, in the eyes of many fans, they were giving the Chiefs, and thus tight end Kelce, excessive preferential treatment. However, these claims could not be independently verified.

However, Kansas City did indeed benefit from a controversial decision against the Bengals last season. In the second week, a pass interference call was made in favor of the Chiefs in the final stages of the game, allowing Harrison Butker to kick the decisive field goal.

From Vance’s point of view, there is no reason to fear that the Bengals will be disadvantaged against the Chiefs in the upcoming season. At least in the regular season, the two teams will not face each other.
