Mike Vrabel is furious after news of Ja’Lynn Polk’s injury came to light. The new coach of the New England Patriots is annoyed about “rats” in his own team.
The New England Patriots suffered a clear 10-42 defeat against the New York Giants on Thursday evening at the end of the preseason. But more interesting than the result was a report in the run-up to the game.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk would miss the entire season due to a shoulder injury. Head coach Mike Vrabel was asked about the report at the post-game press conference and reacted angrily.
New England Patriots: Mike Vrabel on the hunt for “rats”
“No,” Vrabel replied tersely when asked if he could confirm the report, adding: “I’d rather find out where these things are coming from. There are a few rats here, and we’re going to find out who they are.”
“ESPN” confirms that Polk is facing surgery. However, it is still unclear whether he will miss the entire season. The final diagnosis will depend on the procedure itself.
Polk suffered the injury in the preseason opener against the Washington Commanders. However, last year’s second-round pick was not considered a leading player at his position anyway, with Stefon Diggs and Demario Douglas considered starters in New England. Behind them, rookie Kyle Williams was also ahead of Polk.
