Former US President Donald Trump is known for his outbursts and verbal attacks. Before and also after the Super Bowl halftime show, he took on singer Rihanna – the two have a history together
Former US President Donald Trump is known for his tirades – also in connection with football.
He once called Colin Kaepernick a “son of a bitch”. Before the halftime show of this year’s Super Bowl, he chose a (expected) new target: singer Rihanna.
Super Bowl: Trump rages against Rihanna
The 34-year-old’s performance was met with mixed but mostly positive reactions. Trump, on the other hand, turned into the superstar’s biggest critic.
Rihanna provided “the worst halftime show in the history” of the sporting event, he wrote on his social network “Truth Social”, where he has been giving his opinion since and even after his Twitter ban.
Further he quipped, “And that’s after she’s already insulted half the nation – which, by the way, is in serious DISGRACE – with her foul language.”
Super Bowl: Trump’s son also takes shots at Rihanna
Even before the Super Bowl Sunday, Trump insulted the singer with drastic words. “Without her ‘stylist’ she would be NOTHING. All bad, and NO TALENT!” he let slip.
There is widespread dislike for Rihanna in the Trump family. Donald Trump Jr, eldest son of the ex-president, also joined in the bashing – then during the Super Bowl.
“On a scale of 1 to the Grammys, how satanic do you think the Super Bowl halftime show will be?” he tweeted.
Super Bowl – Rihanna vs. Trump: the lead-up
But why the insults and hate speech? Simple: Rihanna is known as a big Trump critic.
For example, during his presidency in 2019, she called him the “mentally sickest man in America” in an interview with Vogue fashion magazine.
A year later, she posted a photo of a car with the words “Fuck Trump”.
Subsequently, one of Trump’s staunchest supporters Ronny Jackson, congressman from Texas, had even called for Rihanna’s exclusion from the halftime show. But that was to no avail.
