Will the Super Bowl kickoff in Germany take place an hour earlier in the future? This scenario could come to pass as early as 2024, as the USA plans to abolish winter time.
Munich – The US Senate has unanimously passed a bill calling for the introduction of a uniform time throughout the year and thus for the abolition of winter time. This law only needs to be signed by the US House of Representatives and President Joe Biden.
If this is the case, the clocks in the states would no longer be changed from autumn 2023. Until then, US Americans would have to do this three more times.
NFL games in Germany one hour earlier
For the Germans, this would mean that they would be one hour less behind the USA in terms of time during the winter season – fitting for the NFL season, then. If a game kicked off at 1 p.m. local time on the East Coast in New York, it would no longer start at 7 p.m. here, but already at 6 p.m.
This would be particularly relevant for the late games on Sunday and, of course, the Super Bowl. Because this way, the mega-event that everyone is looking forward to all year would take place an hour earlier. Conversely, this also means that German NFL fans can sleep an hour longer after the late games.
So now it’s time to cross our fingers that the House of Representatives and President Biden also support the US Senate bill.
