The 2025 Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs has set new standards – at least in terms of viewers. Never before have so many fans tuned in on TV or via streaming.
Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans was a spectacle, with the Philadelphia Eagles ultimately securing the Vince Lombardi Trophy with a 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The combination of the Chiefs potentially achieving a hat-trick, the Eagles, who had been so strong throughout the season, and the half-time show with Kendrick Lamar drew more viewers in front of their TV sets in the US than any previous Super Bowl.
According to the official ratings service provider Nielsen, a total of 182.8 million viewers watched the Super Bowl on TV and streaming – a new record. This means that the final game exceeded the previous year’s edition by a good 600,000 fans.
Nielsen included all available platforms in its analysis. These included the English-language broadcast by Fox, the Spanish-language editions of Fox Deportes and Telemundo, the streaming service provider Tubi and the broadcasts on the NFL channels.
The exclusive TV audience also represented a record in Super Bowl history. An average of 127.7 million people watched the game on Fox, which also set a record for the single broadcast of an event by a linear TV network in the US.
