Donald Trump made an appearance at Super Bowl 59. The US president received a rapturous welcome in New Orleans. He then took to criticizing Taylor Swift.
Donald Trump did not miss the Super Bowl spectacle between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans either.
Trump was the first incumbent US president in history to attend a Super Bowl live. He saw a clear victory for the Eagles.
Even before the game, Trump briefly appeared on the field of Caesars Superdomes. At that point, the audience didn’t really notice the US president.
Donald Trump celebrated
However, the big appearance was to follow a little later. When US singer Jon Batiste performed the national anthem, the 78-year-old Trump was shown on the big screens in the stadium.
The president, who has been in office since mid-January, was shown in a blue suit and red tie at the side of his daughter Ivanka, saluting as he listened to the national anthem.
He was loudly cheered by the crowd in New Orleans, which consisted largely of Eagles fans. There were also some boos, but the cheers outweighed them.

Trump lashes out against Swift
To make matters worse, Swift also had to endure the US president’s gloating after the game.
“The only one who had a worse night than the Kansas City Chiefs is Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote on his online platform ‘Truth Social’.
He took a dig at the pop icon. ‘She was booed off the stadium. Maga is very vindictive.’ Maga is short for ‘Make America Great Again’, the movement behind Trump.
Swift had publicly declared her support for former US President Joe Biden, presidential candidate Kamala Harris and the Democrats during the election campaign. This obviously did not go down well with the many Trump supporters in the stadium.
Even then, Trump had made his dislike for Swift public. “I hate Taylor Swift,” he announced during the election campaign.
