The other seven officials have also been finalised.
In Derick Bowers, Carl Johnson, Rick Patterson and Scott Helverson, four referees are among them who have previous Super Bowl experience. Bowers was part of the referee team once in the grand final, the other three twice each.
For Ronald Torbert, his full name, it will be his first Super Bowl. He has been an NFL referee since the 2010 season. A graduate of Michigan State University and Harvard Law School, Torbert began his NFL career as a side judge in 2010.
After two referees, Scott Green and Ron Winter, ended their careers for the 2014 season, Torbert was promoted to this position. He is one of only seven African-American referees in NFL history.
Out of the NFL, Torbert is a lawyer
This past weekend he officiated the playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. In total, he looks back on nine playoff games of experience.
He was already on call as an alternate referee for the Super Bowl in February 2019 between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots. Outside of his refereeing duties, Torbert is a practicing attorney.
