The NFL is mourning the loss of Clark Haggans. The former Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers linebacker passed away on Monday at the age of 46. The Steelers and Colorado State University, where Haggans played in college in the 1990s, confirmed the news. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Haggans played in the NFL for 13 years, winning Super Bowl XL with the Steelers in February 2006 (21-10 over the Seahawks). The linebacker finished his NFL career in 2013 with 530 tackles and 46.5 sacks.

NFL: Clark Haggans leaves behind two children

Colorado State University inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 2015, also recognising Haggans’ university record of 33 career sacks.

Haggans is survived by son Damon and daughter Alianna.
