NFL – Horrible stats for Kyle Shanahan: Will the 49ers coach never win the Super Bowl?

Kyle Shanahan has already lost three Super Bowls in his career as an NFL coach. Looking at his history, that’s a red flag

This statistic should not please Kyle Shanahan at all!

The head coach of the San Francisco 49ers has already been to the Super Bowl three times – and lost all three games. According to “NFL Research”, this makes him the fifth head coach or coordinator in league history to start his career with a 0:3 Super Bowl record.

The bitter truth is that none of the other four coaches before him went on to win the NFL final in the rest of their careers.

Marv Levy suffered four Super Bowl defeats as head coach of the Bills, as did Bud Grant as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Jerry Burns, on the other hand, suffered the same four final defeats as offensive coordinator of the Vikings under Grant and later never reached the Super Bowl again as head coach

In addition, Ted Marchibroa lost a Super Bowl as offensive coordinator in Washington. In the same capacity, he also lost twice in the biggest sporting event in the world in the service of the Buffalo Bills. As head coach, he also never made it to the Super Bowl again

Shanahan with bitter Super Bowl failures

Kyle Shanahan, on the other hand, lost his first Super Bowl as offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons in the 2016 season against the New England Patriots. As Head Coach of the Niners, he ultimately suffered two more defeats against the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2019 and 2023 seasons.

Particularly bitter: the Shanahan team squandered double-digit leads in all three games
