Baguette diamonds, rubies and a removable attachment: The Kansas City Chiefs receive their championship rings. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Co. shine in new splendour
Round four months after their Super Bowl triumph, the Kansas City Chiefs have received their championship rings. So for the second time in the past four years, the team led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes gets to put on a ring.
The Chiefs held a ceremony Thursday night in Kansas City to hand out the jewellery to players, coaches and also staff.
Baguette diamonds and rubies add glamour
As the team announced on its own website, the rings unveiled on Thursday consist of 609 round diamonds, 16 baguette diamonds, four marquise diamonds and 35 specially cut rubies with an approximate total weight of 16.10 carats.

The ring top, modeled after the bird’s eye view of Arrowhead Stadium, can be removed and converted into a trailer.
A miniature yellow and gold version of the stadium displays the number of Lombardi Trophies won by each recipient during their time with the team once the ring is removed. A quote from team founder Lamar Hunt – “Arrowhead Stadium is my favourite place in the world” – surrounds the stadium.
Mahomes and Kelce involved in ring design
Other features of the ring include head coach Andy Reid’s motto, “EDGE,” on the inside of the ring and “CHIEFS KINGDOM” in yellow gold on the right side to honor Kansas City’s loyal fan base.

Involved in the design of the rings were Chiefs star player Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, according to team president Mark Donovan. “We had a good conversation with Patrick and Travis,” Donovan said. “We just wanted them to see our initial designs. We narrowed it down to two before we talked to them. And then they gave us great suggestions because they’re both stylish guys. So we took that to heart and made some changes based on their suggestions. “
Chiefs-Owner Hunt: “Great party “
The championship rings date back to last February’s 38-35 Super Bowl LVII win over the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the franchise’s third Super Bowl triumph and second in the past four years. Super Bowl LIV already featured a 31-20 victory for the Chiefs over the San Francisco 49ers.

During the Corona pandemic, the Chiefs still received the rings in a different way. “We had a socially-distanced ring ceremony,” Chiefs owner Clark Hunt told “NFL Network.” This time there was a “big party. “
