Odell Beckham Jr. is not an issue for the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the Super Bowl. And that’s despite several banged up wide receivers.
At the latest since the failed signing by the Dallas Cowboys in December, the personnel of Odell Beckham Junior has been on everyone’s lips again.
For a short time, it was even suspected that the Chiefs could sign the star receiver as a reinforcement for Super Bowl LVII.
According to “NBC Sports”, however, the Chiefs have no intention of signing OBJ.
Kansas City could use some help at wide receiver. Of the three starters, only Marquez Valdes-Scantling is fit. On the second line, Mecole Hardmann is battling a pelvic injury, while rookie Justyn Ross has been on the “Injured reserve” list since July.
OBJ injured badly in Super Bowl
According to the report, the Chiefs prefer to rely on team chemistry in the receiver room. OBJ’s serious injury from last season may have played a role in the decision, however.
Although he won the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, he tore his cruciate ligament in the second quarter of the final game.
Although he had developed into an important part of the Rams’ offence in the playoffs, the reigning champions decided against signing him for the new season.
Where OBJ is headed for the upcoming season is likely to generate a lot of talk. The Green Bay Packers have been linked to the receiver for years. But a return to the New York Giants has also been in the air recently.
So the mystery about OBJ’s next team continues.
