Great action by the Buffalo Bills: the franchise and one of its main sponsors give Super Bowl tickets to a man who saved countless lives during a severe snowstorm.
Great action in the NFL: A man from the Buffalo area who had saved 24 people during the deadly snowstorm around Christmas was surprised by a club legend of the Bills with tickets for the upcoming Super Bowl.
So former running back Thurman Thomas and his wife Patti presented the man named Jay Withey with two tickets to the NFL final game in Glendale, Arizona. The Buffalo Bills and health insurer Highmark, namesake of the Bills’ stadium, had previously provided the tickets.
Withey had smashed the window of a school on Christmas Eve to seek shelter from the snowstorm. Before that, he had slept in his truck for a night with two strangers to survive.

On arriving at the school, however, he set out again to find others in need of help. Among other things, he rescued seven elderly people who were trapped in their vehicles and brought them to safety.
His note to the school staff – in which he apologised for the broken glass and explained his rescue operation, among other things – was later published by the police on social media.
After receiving the Super Bowl tickets, Withey also stated that he could not believe how many people had contacted him. Among others, he received thank-you letters from Australia.
With a little luck, the dedicated helper might even see the Buffalo Bills in the NFL final. They play the Miami Dolphins in the Wild Card Round on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
