Official! Alexander Steinforth becomes the first NFL general manager for Germany

Alexander Steinforth will become the first NFL general manager for the German region. The NFL made the announcement on Thursday. Steinforth’s first assignment will be to find a location for the Germany game in 2022.

Munich – The NFL is currently in the middle of the process of finding a location for the first regular-season game on German soil.

In the course of this, the first NFL general manager for the German region has now also been presented: Alexander Steinforth.

Brett Gosper, NFL Chief Executive for Europe and the UK, is pleased about the reinforcement: “Alexander is the ideal person to be responsible for the expansion of the NFL in Germany.”

The 36-year-old will take up his post in February and will help decide where the first regular-season game in NFL history will be played on German soil.

“I am confident that I can contribute my experience to further develop the sport and increase the fan base of the NFL,” says Steinforth. Currently, he is still the managing director of Deutsche Sport Marketing – a subsidiary of the German Olympic Sports Confederation.

Experience at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Manchester United

Previously, Steinforth was employed by Fortuna Düsseldorf as Director of Strategy, Business Development and Digital. He was promoted to the Bundesliga with the Rhinelanders in 2018.

Before that, Steinforth, who was born in the Rhine metropolis of Düsseldorf, was responsible for strategy at Manchester United.
