Loss to the Titans: Patriots probably lose key figure in management

The New England Patriots must cope with the next departure this off-season. Although it will not be visible on the football field for the time being, it could have a major impact on the future of the team.

Tom Brady, Phillip Dorsett, Kyle van Noy, Stephen Gostkowski. The list of notable Patriots departures this off-season is getting longer and longer. Now there is a departure that will not immediately affect the sporting action on the field, but could be decisive for the future.

Monti Ossenfort, the “director of college scouting” will probably move to the Tennessee Titans and take on a higher role as “director of player personnel”. This was reported by “Sport Illustrated”.

So the pats lose the person who was primarily responsible for sifting through college players and thus had a significant influence on the drafting process of the franchise.

The move to the Titans comes as no surprise to the team around head coach Bill Belichick, as Ossenfort’s contract expired. In January he is also said to have been in talks with the Cleveland Browns. However, they were talking about the lucrative job as general manager.

Ossenfort, who had been working for the Patriots since 2003, was promoted in 2014 because Jon Robinson, the current general manager of the Titans, moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So the two now work together in Tennessee and the circle is complete. Head Coach Mike Vrabel, who was quarterback for the Pats from 2001 to 2008, is no stranger to the game.
