Munich – The NFL has opened an internal investigation against the Cleveland Browns, according to information from “Sports Illustrated”. According to the report, allegations made by former head coach Hue Jackson are being investigated.

Jackson had written in a tweet in February in the wake of Brian Flores’ statements that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam “was happy during losing streak” and implied in another tweet that he had been offered money by the owner for defeats. Jackson revised the latter statement a little later.

On “CNN”, Jackson accused the Browns of having a “four-year plan” during his tenure in which it benefited “certain people” if the Browns kept losing.

Under Jackson, the Browns won just three of their 40 must-win games before the now 56-year-old was fired in the middle of the 2018/19 season.

Browns welcome investigation

Already a few weeks ago, owner Haslam denied any allegations, calling it “a lie.” In a statement, the Browns welcomed the NFL’s investigation, saying, “Although Hue Jackson has already retracted allegations, an independent investigation is very important to us and we are cooperating with the investigative team. We look forward to the results. “

The NFL confirmed to “Sports Illustrated” that the investigation is nearing completion. Head coach Hue Jackson worked as an assistant with the Cincinnati Bengals after his time with the Browns and is currently the head coach at Grambling State University.
