NFL: Jaguars Head Coach Urban Meyer frustrated after Bengals loss – “Heartbreaking”

In the Thursday Night Game, the Jacksonville Jaguars are defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals 21-24 in the last second. After the game, Urban Meyer, Head Coach of the Jags, shows himself marked by the defeat, but also gives himself optimistic.

Munich/Cincinnati – A field goal by Evan McPherson sealed the 21:24 defeat of the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Thursday Night Game.

Urban Meyer, Head Coach of the Jaguars, expressed his frustration after the close and above all avoidable defeat.

Bengals loss “heartbreaking” for Meyer

“It’s heartbreaking. This is a broken-hearted locker room, so we’ve got to get it back,” the coach commented following the encounter.

In fact, more was possible for his team, and the 14-0 lead at halftime didn’t provide the confidence they had hoped for. Instead, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow turned it up in the second and led his team to victory.

The Florida franchise has been waiting for such a sense of achievement for more than a year now, and the loss to Cincinnati marked the team’s season-high 19th consecutive defeat. According to Meyer, however, this negative series will soon come to an end.

Jaguars-HC Meyer believes in wins

“Usually I’m not wrong with something like this, I just see a good team in there. I see good guys, good hearts and guys that work hard. And I told them I’m not wrong. This team is going to win some games,” the 57-year-old struck more confident tones.

Meyer, rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Co. will have a chance to improve their 0-4 record on October 10. That’s when the Tennessee Titans play host to Jacksonville.
