Comeback delayed? Michael Thomas misses New Orleans Saints minicamp

Michael Thomas misses New Orleans Saints minicamp. The wide receiver is still not at 100 percent. However, the 29-year-old should be ready to go for the start of the season.

Munich – Michael Thomas will probably not be able to participate in the mandatory minicamp of the New Orleans Saints. Head coach Dennis Allen told reporters.

Thomas continues to suffer from an ankle injury that cost him all of last season. He has only appeared in six games since 2020.

“I’m happy with where Mike Thomas is. I’d much rather he was 100 percent healthy and out here, but that’s not where we are right now. He’s working incredibly hard,” Allen said. The latter most recently said on a “Rich Eisen Show” podcast that he was counting firmly on Thomas.

From superstar to long-term injured

The 29-year-old should be fit for the start of the season in September.

His last “full” season came in 2019, when three-time Pro Bowlers amassed 1,725 receiving yards, scored nine touchdowns and was named Offensive Player of the Year.

Allen, meanwhile, isn’t worried about his protege: “I think he’s in a pretty darn good place mentally. We still have a lot of time before the first game. “
