It had been hinted at, now it’s happened: The Denver Broncos have fired head coach Vic Fangio. “We have parted ways with Vic Fangio,” the Colorado franchise tweeted succinctly at 16:24 German time on Sunday afternoon.

The 63-year-old had failed to lead the Broncos to the playoffs in three years and always ended the season with a negative record. The Broncos’ problem at the quarterback position also persists, with neither Drew Lock nor Teddy Bridgewater seemingly having any prospects for the future.

The hottest candidate for the Broncos’ head coach position is now Dan Quinn, currently defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Minnesota Vikings are missing the playoffs again and as a result, head coach Mike Zimmer may have to vacate his post, according to converging media reports.

The coach is in his eighth season with the Vikings but stands at a 7-9 record for the second straight season, but longtime GM Rick Spielman is expected to stay. He has a close relationship with Vikings ownership and is now expected to “oversee” the new coach and a new GM in a new role.

According to consistent media reports, Head Coach Vic Fangio is facing retirement. Dan Quinn, currently defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, is apparently the top candidate to succeed him.

Fangio has a record of 19 wins and 29 losses in three seasons with the Broncos. He missed the playoffs for the third time in a row with the Broncos and never had a season with a positive record. This season, Denver finished 7-10 after losing 24-28 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
