Washington Redskins: Amazon bans fan articles and rethinking team logo

In the dispute over the team name of the Washington Redskins, more and more movement is coming in. After Nike, online mail-order giant Amazon has now banned all fan articles from its shop. And: There is a significant rethinking of the team logo in the franchise.

There is news from the Washington Redskins! After there are more and more indications that the franchise will probably change its name before the possible NFL season start in September 2020 – also because major sponsors and shareholders have built up public pressure – the still Redskins should already have thought about redesigning their clothes and logos, according to NFL expert Adam Schefter.

According to this, everything that points to Native Americans, i.e. Indians, is to be removed from the current logo, the clothes and everything else that has to do with the franchise. This does not only apply to the likeness of Native Americans, but also to weapons or head and feather jewellery. Nothing should remind of the “Redskins” in the future.

Only the club colours will remain.
Only the current club colours – burgundy red and gold – are to remain for the moment. The fact that everything seems to be going very fast all at once is certainly due in part to the fact that Amazon, after Nike, has now also taken all the Redskins’ fan merchandise from its worldwide online shop.

So the pressure on Redskins-Owner Dan Snyder and his franchise is getting bigger and bigger – and will probably lead to a general overhaul of the club from the US capital in the end.
