Washington Commanders sale: NFL sets voting date

According to media reports, the date on which the purchase offer for the Washington Commanders is to be decided has been set. The Snyder era would be over for good.

According to Ian Rapoport, the NFL has scheduled a special meeting of all team owners for July 20 to vote on the sale of the Washington Commanders.

Earlier, the Washington Post reported that the league’s finance committee would recommend approval of the offer from the group led by entrepreneur Josh Harris and basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson.

This ends a turbulent period for the team under the previous owners of the “Commies”. Under the Snyder couple, the franchise was repeatedly rocked by scandals.

Commanders would be third major sports team under Harris ownership

Months ago, there had been reports that the Snyders had reached an agreement with Harris and his cohorts. The price in question is $6.05 billion.

This would make the Commanders the third team in the major American leagues to be part of Harris’ portfolio, along with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils.
