Washington Commanders: FedExField to receive millions in upgrades

The Washington Commanders have announced millions of dollars in upgrades to their stadium. After years of numerous scandals involving the Snyder family, the ongoing fan euphoria is expected to continue under new leadership

The era has begun for the Washington Commanders under the new ownership group led by Josh Harris.

Following the takeover in July, the first changes are already beginning to show. The franchise has announced significant upgrades to its venue, FedExField.

40 million dollars are to be invested in renovations and expansions. In addition to general maintenance, the sum is to go towards new ticket scanners, three new “themed suites” and updated signage around the stadium.

Back in March, the team announced that FedExField would be outfitted with new video walls and a new sound system next season.

Commanders: Owner Harris wants to excite fans

With the aforementioned new additions, the Commanders continue their rebranding and hope to further drive supporters’ excitement about the team’s new ownership after scandal-ridden years under the Snyder family and provide a sense of optimism.

Trista Langdon, the Commanders’ senior vice president of operations and guest experience, also stressed that there will be other changes to the stadium during the season, including “a revamped pre-game ritual.” The new programme is expected to be an “interactive” show 20 minutes before kick-off.

The Commanders had the worst attendance in the NFL last season, according to “Bleacher Report.” However, a positive trend was already evident in preparation.

According to reporter John Keim of “ESPN”, this year’s training camp in Washington in July was better attended than it had been in at least a decade.

Harris had stressed in an open letter in the “Washington Post” in July that he wanted to bring the energy he felt “as a kid” at the franchise’s former Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium to FedExField.
