Munich/Washington D.C. – Safety Deshazor Everett has been sentenced to prison.
The 30-year-old, who was under contract with the Washington Commanders until March, was charged with involuntary manslaughter. In December last year, he had caused a car accident in which his girlfriend Olivia Peters died. The verdict was finally reached this week for reckless driving.
Up to one year in prison
Under Virginia state law, Everett faces up to a year in prison. As his lawyer Kaveh Noorishad confirmed to “NBC”, he must serve his sentence no later than 8 September.
Everett was going 90 miles per hour, according to the police report, about twice the posted speed limit at the scene of the accident.
Everett played seven years in the NFL, each of them at Washington. During that time he had two interceptions and two forced fumbles.
