Running back Aaron Jones has joined the rival Minnesota Vikings after being released by the Green Bay Packers.
Shortly after his release from the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Jones has already found a new employer. The running back is moving to the Minnesota Vikings. The 29-year-old has signed a one-year contract with a salary of seven million dollars.
Jones spent seven seasons with Green Bay and is the third-best rusher in franchise history. He was released Monday to make way for running back Josh Jacobs, who signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers.
The Vikings are scrambling to add to the running back room after releasing Alexander Mattison last week. Jones’ position-mate will include Ty Chandler, who showed good promise last season with 461 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Jones is coming off his personally weakest season (142 carries, 656 yards, 2 touchdowns) since his rookie year in 2017. However, he was also affected by injury problems. In the 2022 season, he still excelled with 1121 rushing yards, 395 receiving yards and a total of seven touchdowns.
