Trade or not – what happens to DK Metcalf?

What does the future hold for star wide receiver DK Metcalf? While the Seahawks aren’t pushing for a move, a trade isn’t said to be completely out of the question.

Munich – “Haven’t heard anything”. By his own admission, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has not heard anything regarding an alleged trade.

However, Jeremy Fowler of “ESPN” claimed that while the franchise has told Metcalf that they do not intend to trade him away, there are two scenarios in which a trade of the top athlete could occur.

Metcalf next in receiver rochade?

Accordingly, Seattle would consider a transfer if either the price and package of another team’s offer is right or Metcalf himself is looking for a change of scenery.

With the wide receiver market upside down at the latest after the deal of top pass receiver Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins, the rumours surrounding the Seahawks’ star player have also been fuelled.

Metcalf as plan B for the Jets?

The New York Jets were also interested in Hill. Now the Jets could have Metcalf on the books as a Plan B, because the team has a young quarterback in Zach Wilson who could use his strong arm to feed Metcalf long passes.

In addition, New York general manager Joe Douglas has said recently that if the opportunity existed and the price was right, the Jets would strike. So with good draft picks up their sleeve, the franchise could look to trade Metcalf.

Whether the Seahawks would actually let their top receiver go if they received an offer, however, is questionable. After all, even though the team is in the midst of a rebuild following the departures of quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner, DK Metcalf can’t be compared to those two personnel.

Seahawks: Rebuild around DK Metcalf?

After all, the fitness junkie is only 24 years old and would be the man to build the new team around going forward. Should Seattle pass on Metcalf, promising draft picks and a lot of money would probably be on the plus side again. However, the Seahawks would then be missing absolute top players for the time being.

Whether the statements that the Seahawks are not pushing for a Metcalf transfer actually come true remains to be seen. After all, the behaviour of Seattle officials was similar with Wagner and Wilson at the beginning, when they said they were not thinking about a trade. In the end, however, things turned out differently: Wilson is now in Denver, Wagner in Los Angeles.
