The Tampa Bay Buccaneers restructure quarterback superstar Tom Brady’s contract just days before the draft. This gives the general manager nine million dollars more to spend.
Munich – The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have “pimped” their cap space a bit ahead of the upcoming draft. As is customary in the NFL, one contract was restructured to create some space in the 2022 budget – namely Tom Brady’s contract, as “ESPN” reports.
The rebuild freed up nine million dollars for the Buccaneers, which can now be used to prepare for the new season.
Tom Brady: Contract expires
Details of the restructuring were not initially disclosed, but Brady will not have to do without his money; as a rule, money is reallocated from one season to the next. His contract also continues to expire after the 2022 season, at which point he would be a free agent. What happens after 2022 is completely open.
Brady said most recently on “ESPN” that he knew he was at the end of his career: “I wish I could go on forever, but it’s not like that, and football has too high a price. My kids are getting older and it’s getting harder and harder to miss these things. But I wanted to give myself, my teammates and our organisation another incredible chance to achieve something we can all be very proud of. “
