Tampa Bay Buccaneers to wear ‘Creamsicle’ jerseys against Detroit Lions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reminiscing: In the home game against the Detroit Lions on 15 October, the “Bucs” will wear the traditional “Creamsicle” jerseys for the first time in eleven years.

Back to the roots for the Tampa Bay Buccanners: In the home game against the Detroit Lions on 15 October, the NFL team’s players will wear the legendary “Creamsicle” design from the early days of the franchise for the first time in eleven years.

The last time the cream-coloured jerseys were used was in 2012. Prior to that, they were the team’s main playing attire from the franchise’s debut year in 1976 to 1996, and were finally worn once more each season from 2009 to 2012.

“The return of our beloved Creamsicle jerseys for this special game is something our fans have been passionate about for many years, and we are excited to celebrate our franchise’s history with a unique, special Creamsicle game day experience,” said Buccaneers Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford.

The stadium will also be remodelled

The game against the Lions was also chosen because Detroit was once a division rival of the “Bucs” in the now defunct NFC Central.

However, the fans of Tom Brady’s ex-team can not only look forward to special jerseys. The stadium is also being redesigned to resemble the old Tampa Stadium. This includes retro field stencils, stadium pennants and adapted video boards.

“This is more than a throwback game – it’s a celebration of our legacy and some of the great moments and players that make our history so special for our fans,” Ford said.
