Even after superstar Tom Brady’s retirement, the future of one of his long-time teammates is by no means secure. Tight end Rob Gronkowki has yet to make a decision on his future with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to the report.
Munich/Tampa – Quarterback Tom Brady is breaking off his retirement early and returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the league has since recovered from the shock and the roster of the “Bucs” is taking shape more and more, there is still a big question mark: The future of tight end and Brady buddy Rob Gronkowski.
Drew Rosenhaus, Gronkowski’s agent, told the Buccaneers, according to Sports Illustrated, that the five-time Pro Bowler is still undecided on whether he will play in the 2022 season.
As Cameron Wolfe of the “NFL Network” reports, Gronkowski hinted during the offseason that he will likely return to Tampa Bay. However, the 32-year-old is still taking his time to make his decision.
Recent signs indicated that “Gronk” would continue his chapter in Tampa Bay. A little over a week ago, he was asked in a Tampa barbershop if he would play for the “Bucs” next season. His answer: “There is a very big chance. I’m going to give him (Brady, editor’s note) a little scare, a couple of months without me. The same way he just did it to me for a couple of months.”
Brady and Gronkowski spent nine seasons together with the New England Patriots before the tight end announced his retirement. Gronkowski missed only the 2019 season before joining the Buccaneers a year later along with “TB12. “
