The quarterback rumour carousel continues to pick up speed. Russell Wilson is being linked to the Denver Broncos. Head coach Pete Carroll weighs in on the matter.
Munich – In the wake of the NFL Combine, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has spoken out about the rumours surrounding his star quarterback Russell Wilson.
The 70-year-old made it clear to “ESPN” that the Seahawks are “not considering a trade of Wilson at all”.
As was the case last year when Seattle’s quarterback flirted with a move, his personnel is currently being hotly debated.
Just recently, the 33-year-old was linked to the Denver Broncos, who are likely planning on using Wilson as a Plan B should a signing of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers not work out.
Russell Wilson: Career end with the Seahawks or change of scenery?
For Carroll, the speculation is nothing surprising, he said, “This time of year, everybody is talked about […], especially key players. It’s always been that way and it always will be that way.”
That there are talks between Seattle’s general manager John Schneider and other franchises, Carroll did not deny at all – according to him, there is just “nothing concrete” about it.
There has been repeated speculation about a change of scenery for Wilson. The eight-time Pro Bowler always expressed himself diplomatically and did not let anyone look inside.
In 2019, he had signed a four-year contract in Seattle worth a total of 140 million US dollars.
