San Francisco 49ers: Quarterback Trey Lance underwent surgery again after breaking an ankle

In the second game of the season, 49ers quarterback Trey Lance broke his ankle and had to undergo surgery. Now the 22-year-old has had to undergo surgery again.

News from Trey Lance: The quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers had to undergo another surgery. As the team announced in a statement, the 22-year-old underwent successful surgery on his right ankle.

According to the statement, the second surgery “removed materials” that had been inserted during the first procedure in September.

“Due to the location of the fracture, the required hardware was near a tendon in Lance’s ankle. During rehab, the proximity of the material irritated the ankle. After consulting with several experts, the decision was made to remove the hardware to avoid future problems in the ankle,” the Niners announced.

Recovery of Trey Lance continues

According to the team, Lance should be back by the start of OTAs. His recovery is thus still dragging on for a few more months

The signal caller broke his ankle on a sack in the 49ers’ second game of the season against the Seattle Seahawks and had to be carted off the field. His playing time was over early on.
