San Francisco 49ers: Quarterback Trey Lance may reveal problems at training camp

Quarterback Trey Lance wants to fight for the position as starter in the San Francisco 49ers’ training camp. Apparently, that’s not working out too well.

Like all other teams, the San Francisco 49ers are in the middle of their preseason.

Quarterback Trey Lance, who missed all of last season due to a serious injury, gets to show up at training camp.

In his absence, 2022 seventh-round pick Brock Purdy played big and advanced to the NFC Championship Game (7:31 against the Philadelphia Eagles).

There, however, the playmaker suffered an injury but has since returned to the field.

San Francisco 49ers: Lance reportedly with problems

During training camp, Lance was now expected to shine as a challenger for the starter’s job, but that seems to be having only manageable success. As David Lombardi of The Athletic reports, Lance is having “major issues” and only completed one of four passes during one drill.

Fellow reporter Matt Barrows also stated that Lance was at a 50 per cent rate in eleven-on-eleven situations on the first three days of camp. As a result, he is said to have faced just seven balls out of 14.

Lance and Purdy are joined by Sam Darnold on the 49ers squad that will play their first game of the regular season at the Pittsburgh Steelers.
