Former star running back Frank Gore is returning to one of his ex-teams to take a position in the front office.
As NFL insider Adam Schefter reports, Gore will join the 49ers as a football consultant.
Earlier, a tweet from Malki Kawa surfaced congratulating his “buddy” Gore on getting the job in San Francisco.
So for Gore, it’s back to the team that drafted the running back 65th overall in 2005.
Gore spent ten seasons with the 49ers, making three straight trips to the NFC Championship Game with San Francisco between 2011 and 2013.
In the 2012 season, the 49ers even made it to Super Bowl 47, where Gore and Co. lost to the Baltimore Ravens 31-34.
Gore with third most rushing yards
Gore left the 49ers after ten years and went on to play for the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.
Behind Emmitt Smith (18,355) and Walter Payton (16,726), Gore has the third-most rushing yards (16,000) in NFL history.
