San Francisco 49ers: Lynch and Shanahan sign long-term extensions

General Manager John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan remain with the Niners for the long term.

Following their Thursday Night Game win over the New York Giants, the San Francisco 49ers are making more positive headlines.

Both general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have extended their contracts early, which were still valid until 2025.

The franchise from California did not disclose how long the new employment papers would be valid.

Given the positive development of the team, which has started the new season with 3-0 victories, anything other than a longer-term collaboration with the successful duo would also have been a surprise.

Shanahan and Lynch have steered the 49ers’ fortunes since 2017. Following the 2019 season, Lynch was named Executive of the Year, while Shanahan was named Coach of the Year.

Only one Super Bowl title is still missing for the team. After last season’s elimination in the Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the next attack on the NFL title is to be made this year.
