The San Francisco 49ers celebrate their third win in the third game, for the New York Giants the Thursday Night Game turns out to be a big disappointment.
The San Francisco 49ers have continued their winning streak in the NFL. In their first home game of the still young season, they beat the New York Giants 30:12 in the Thursday Night Game of the third day of play.
In the absence of wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, missing for the first time since his rookie season, it was once again the team’s stars who ensured success with their performances. Pass receiver Deebo Samuel caught six passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.
Running back Christian McCaffrey carried the ball 18 times for 85 yards and a touchdown, and also made five catches for 34 yards. Tight end George Kittle was also a big support for quarterback Brock Purdy with seven catches for 90 yards, who mainly drew attention with short passes, but still managed 310 passing yards with two touchdowns.
While the Niners, with a record of 3-0, have a lot to be happy about, the Giants should be in a bad mood. Without the injured star running back Saquon Barkley, as well as without left tackle Andrew Thomas and left guard Ben Bredeson, little went right for the team from the Big Apple.
Playmaker Daniel Jones couldn’t get the passing game going and was often on foot himself – with little success.
The signal caller only managed 137 passing yards and did not score a touchdown, but he did have to accept an interception.
Giants-Offense can’t get rolling
Only kicker Graham Gano and Matt Greida put points on the scoreboard with a run of eight yards. In total, the offence did not manage more than 150 yards.
After the embarrassment in the first game of the season against the Cowboys, and the turned around game against the Cardinals, the Giants are now at a record of 1:2.
